Bloom and Grow Serger Quilt

Join Lynn for the Bloom and Grow quilt. Did you know you can make a quilt ENTIRELY on the L890 Serger/Coverstitch? This nine class series will have you learning so much about building a quilt using serger/coverstich techniques. 

We will have an informational meeting to kick start on August 19th at 1:30pm where we can talk through requirements, shop for/discuss fabric choices, and get a sneak peek.

Requirements:

- L890 or L890QE or serger and coverstitch machines. You're more than welcome to use two different machines if that is what you have!

Feet:

- #C12-coverstitch compensating foot
- #C13-cover/chain
- #C24-shirring
- #C23-curve
- #C27-clear

Fabric:

Pattern calls for a total of 19 fabrics, mostly white, black, gray text with aqua accents. I am using bright solids with blue/gray accent.

Thread:

Neutral Serger Thread to work with your fabrics (pattern uses gray and white). Will need 3 cones at any given time.

Wonderfil Spaghetti (12 weight) threads. Pattern calls for 2 – to complement your fabrics, feel free to add more! Can be any 12 weight decorative thread, whether colorful or metallic thread to complement your fabrics.

60 weight thread for quilt assembly – to complement your quilt top.

Supplies (required and optional):

ELX 80/20 needles for piecing
Topstitch 90/14 (or 100/16) for flatlock stitches and decorative threads
3/8” bias tape maker (yellow or lavender)
Liquid starch (I used Terial magic – see above recommendations)
WonderClips
Flower head pins (whatever you typically use)
Chalk marker or other fabric marking tool you prefer
8.5” square ruler (or larger)
Heat-n-Bond Lite or Wonder Under (2 sided fusible)
Sewline mechanical pencil (or whatever marking tool you prefer)
Fray Check

Optional:

18 degree wedge cutting ruler (there is a template and we can work around)
Gail Yellen’s Thread Fusion (size Large, for using mjultiple threads at once)
Decorative button for flower center (2” or larger)

For Quilting:

2 yards wide-back backing fabric
57-80 batting
Ruler foot #72 or #72S for quilting with rulers
Free motion foot of your choice
Rulers: Every angle, leaf/curve template, wedge cutting ruler 18 degree (All Amanda Murphy rulers, will be available for purchase through our shop, we can chat about it in the first class!)

Skill Details:
Requirements:	Serger with overlock and coverstitch capabilities. This project has both overlock and coverstitch components. Please make sure you have a serger/multiple machines that can accomodate those requirements.
